Enjoy Spring Weather in Jackson Hole

Between March and May, Jackson Hole enjoys a variety of weather patterns and fluctuations which is typical for this transitional season. On average, visitors can expect to see daily highs in the 60s by early May, with evening lows dipping down into the 30s. It’s also good to note that spring in Jackson Hole comes with more frequent chances for rain showers which are vital for blossoming wildflowers and plants coming back to life across the surrounding mountains. This is a time of year where one day, a t-shirt could suffice on the trails and the next, you’ll encounter chances for late-season snowfall. That said, it’s important to pack in layers when you’re heading to Jackson Hole in the springtime, especially when you’re excited to spend as much time outside as possible enjoying outdoor activities in Jackson Hole.

Pair Wildlife Photography & Park Tours

Travelers who decide to enjoy a trip to Jackson Hole in the spring will find this is a great time of year to visit the nearby national parks. This is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Jackson Hole, year-round. Before summer crowds show up and after winter travelers have left, spring offers up a great time to explore the park trails and landmarks in a more serene and tranquil setting. The ground will likely still be muddy but if you book an official park tour alongside a guide, they’ll be able to show you the way through the park and ensure you have all the gear you need in place to do so safely. If you happen to be a wildlife or nature photographer, spring is an exceptionally wonderful time to explore. Bald eagles, pronghorn, moose, and bison alike can be spotted as you tour and the changing landscape makes for a great backdrop on film as well. If you’re spending time at Grand Teton National Park in the spring, you can explore the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm through April 30 with opening hours adjusting to 8:00 am starting May 1. Over at Yellowstone National Park, many primary traffic roads are closed through mid-April, but the Southern Entrance opens soon after which is always a highly anticipated seasonal moment for visitors!
