Enjoy the Grand Teton Music Festival in 2023

If you’re heading to scenic Jackson Hole this summer and looking for musical events to add to your lineup of fun activities, you’ll find it waiting for you with the arrival of the annual Grand Teton Music Festival. Back and better than ever in 2023, this festival will be hosted from June 30th through August 19th, providing guests and locals alike with eight weeks of performances under the leadership of Sir Donald Runicles. Some of the special events on the calendar this summer include an evening with Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald as well as a performance by the National Youth Orchestra alongside violinist Gil Shaham. This will be conducted by Sir Andrew Davis. Some fan-favorite violinists are slated to return including James Ehnes who will be performing at Walk Festival Hall. The Festival Orchestra series will include a semi-staged production of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly complete with seven world-class opera soloists taking to the stage too! There will once again be a Sunday afternoon piano recital series showcase as well as two outdoor events hosted at the Center for the Arts Park.

Independence Day Fireworks in Teton Village

For travelers that are excited to find themselves in Jackson Hole over the 4th of July, the annual Independence Day Fireworks display in Teton Village is a must-see event this summer. Presented by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the event runs from 9:00 pm until 11:00 pm at 3265 West Village Drive on both July 3rd and July 4th this year. Guests are invited to come and enjoy plenty of live music, food, and beverages before the fireworks kick off after sundown around 10:00 pm. The performances you’ll enjoy on-site are part of the free concert summer series in Jackson Hole which is enjoying its 13th year in town in 2023.

Take Part in the 4th of July Breakfast and Parade

Infuse flavor and fun into your summer away in Jackson Hole when you make the most of the annual Independence Day breakfast and parade in town. On July 4th, you can make your way to the north side of Town Square where the Jackson Hole Lions Club will be hosting a special community breakfast starting at 8:00 am. This is a family-friendly and decidedly delicious event that runs until 11:00 am and kids 4 and under can dine for free. Those 4 to 7 are $7 each while adults can dine for $15 each. Live music will be on-site to accompany the breakfast experience on the 4th of July in Jackson Hole which will include eggs, pancakes, and sausages served up alongside delicious beverages too. Dine in style and linger in good company before making your way to find a seat in anticipation of the arrival of the annual 4th of July parade. Spectators are in for a treat as talented cowboys and cowgirls show off their classic rodeo skills ranging from calf roping and barrel racing to bull riding alike. Flavorful Fun to Savor with Friends and Family

When you find yourself in Jackson Hole on the 4th of July, you can count on starting the day off on a delicious note. That’s because the city hosts its annual pancake breakfast on the 4th at Town Square! This mouthwatering event runs from 8:00 am until 10:30 am and is organized and presented by the Jackson Hole Lions Club. Tickets to attend the pancake breakfast start at $13 for those 13 and up while breakfast goers 4 to 7 can make the most of the tasty experience for $6 each. Anyone dining under the age of four can do so for free. This breakfast brings visitors and locals together and is sure to please the palate. It’s also a great addition to the itinerary when you want to begin your day’s adventures close to the heart of the 4th of July fun!

If you’re hoping to get the holiday fun started even earlier and are looking for an activity to burn calories before you sit down and make the most of the pancake breakfast, the 4th of July 10K run will do the trick. The race starts at 8:00 am and follows an out and back path from Owen Bircher Park. Participants have options to choose from 10K and 5K runs as well as a 5K walk depending on preference. Be sure to register in advance to secure your place!

Watch the 4th of July Parade

Another sure highlight of a 4th of July celebrated in Jackson Hole is taking time to enjoy the holiday parade that’s in place each year. The parade kicks off at 10:00 am and begins its route at the Teton County Fairgrounds. The parade then travels down Snow King Avenue toward Glenwood before making a turn at Broadway into Town Square. The floats and performers end things at Willow Street and typically the parade finishes around noon. This is a super popular event on the day’s agenda, so you’ll want to bring chairs and come early to make sure you have a great spot to see all of the classic cars, clowns, horses, live music, and even performers on roller skates! The parade is a family friendly event you won’t want to miss out on while you’re in town.

Concert on the Commons Followed by Fireworks

In 2023, the Concert on the Commons series enters its 13th year much to the delight of locals and visitors alike. On July 3rd and July 4th guests can enjoy concert series performances starting at 6:00 pm. There will also be a Patriotic Pops performance by the Grand Teton Musical Festival Orchestra at the Center for the Arts Park to enjoy. If you choose to sit on the lawn for this performance, there’s no cost to attend. When you’ve had your fill of musical fun, stick around for the fireworks at 10:00 pm. These are set off at both Teton Village and Snow King Mountain Resort.

Get a full day of activities at Snow King Mountain Resort. The Big King Pass is a great way to experience summer fun in one-day, this pass includes one tour on the Treetop Adventure and unlimited rides and activities all day on like The Cowboy Coaster for careening through nearly a mile of dips, dives, and curves, Mini-Golf, Alpine Slide for a classic choose-your-own-speed adventure, Amaze’n Maze to get lost in the fun and challenge yourself and Bungee Trampoline to flip and fly fearlessly.

FRIDAY NIGHT BIKE RIDES

Head to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on Friday evening for the last night of mountain biking! From 4PM to 6PM you will get to ride for one last time the new Bike Park Trails as the summer comes to an end. Bike park lift tickets & bike rentals are available in resort only, including access to Sweetwater Gondola and Teewinot Quad only.

TOWN SQUARE

While the sun comes down, walk around Town Square, famous for its four antler arches and great shopping ranging from fine jewelry and art galleries to outdoor gear stores and old time photos. If the sky is clear, end your day with Wyoming Stargazing’s free stargazing gathering. Meet at the Center for the Arts’ lawn anytime between 9:30 to 11:30pm for astronomers to show you planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies and more through their professional telescopes.

 

SATURDAY 4

FARMERS MARKET

Look for local farmers, ranchers, and specialty food vendors at the weekly Farmers Market in Town Square under the elk antler arches from 8AM to 12PM. Be there first to get the best selection of produce, locally raised beef, baked goods, and other prepared foods. End the morning enjoying live music by a local band! You can also pop into the Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center between 3PM and 5PM for Teton Raptor Center – Soaring Saturdays, meet live raptors and relax on the wildlife-viewing decks.

MORNING YOGA

Enjoy the last day of elevated yoga on the second floor south deck of Rendezvous Lodge, at the top of the Bridger Gondola! Get your sun salutations at 9095′. The class goes from 9:30AM to 10:30AM, we recommend taking the gondola at 9AM. You can sign up online but you must go to the Mountain Sports School sales desk on the bottom floor of the Bridger Building to pick up a ticket for gondola access.

TROUT FISHING

September is considered the best month to fish for trout. Catch the “Zen” when fishing with Jackson Hole’s skilled fishing guides. Whether you are a seasoned fly fisher or a novice, they will make your experience one to remember. Explore legendary rivers like the Snake, Green, Firehole, and Bighorn—home to wild and native trout species including cutthroat, rainbow, and brown. You’ll see bald eagles, moose, elk, and maybe even a bear! You’ll come away with stories of feisty fish and adventures you’ll cherish for years to come. RODEO

Jackson Hole Labor Day weekend also marks the end of the rodeo season. These are real cowboys and girls who are competing for cash money, we’re going to be able to see some of the best performances of the season on their last weekend to compete. You can’t visit the “Last Town of the Old West” without experiencing a real rodeo. It’s one of our favorite events in Jackson Hole. We recommend you buy your ticket online, popular nights often sell out, print it and go straight to the entry, crowds start showing up at 7:15PM so arrive early!

WHITE WATER RAFTING

Journey down the class II-III Snake River with stunning canyon scenery, calm stretches, and fun rapids. Experience the two biggest waves on the river, Big Kahuna and Lunch Counter. Your guide will teach you how to sit, paddle, and stroke as you laugh your way down the Snake! The 8-mile whitewater stretch through the Snake River Canyon takes you through a mix of calm sections where you’ll be able to take in the scenery and wildlife, and exciting rapids where you’re more than likely to get a little wet. Jackson Hole is full of cozy spots that serve traditional American breakfast, sandwiches, baked goods or desserts such as pie. The Bunnery Bakery & Restaurant is one of Jackson’s favorite casual restaurants, serving breakfast and lunch daily throughout the year and dinner during the summer months. If you are looking for more home cooked classics with a log cabin environment Cafe Genevieve Restaurant is perfect for you. High attention to detail and creative preparation defines Rations, the in-store restaurant at Basecamp, is a not-so-hidden gem in this establishment.

GRAND TETON TOUR

From glamorous peaks to roaming wildlife, enjoy an afternoon in Grand Teton National Park with visits to Oxbow Bend, Mormon Row, Snake River, and Jenny Lake.
